The Greatest Place...

Last weekend we went over to Seattle to pick a friend up from the airport. While there we stopped at the Southcenter Mall. It's my new favorite place, even though it's 2 1/2 hours away. This is where I got to sit and nurse my baby! How nice is that?
Here is Dave with Kayli, sitting in the "Family Room" at the mall.

This room has a TV that's playing the Disney channel, nice chairs, and toys for kids to play with. Notice the 3 lovely nursing rooms on the side. And the place is clean! Why doesn't everywhere have places like these??

Welcome to the world, Kayli Rose Button!

Every baby that enters this world has a story...here is the story of Kayli Rose Button who joined our family on January 8th.
All day on January 7th I felt yucky. I couldn't even eat because I just felt sick. I had been having irregular contractions on and off for days and they got a little bit stronger in the evening. At 9pm, after the kids were in bed I decided to go walk around Wal Mart and see if I could keep them coming. Dave thought I was crazy, but he let me go. I walked around the whole store for 2 hours. I think I passed some aisles 5 times, but I knew things would get going if I kept walking.
I woke up at 4 am the next morning with pretty good contractions. I got up, cleaned a little and tried to keep myself busy. By 6 am they were about 3 minutes apart and getting stronger so I woke up Dave and told him we needed to go to the hospital. Dave's dad came over so that the older kids could just stay in bed.
This is me...so happy to be finally having this baby. This pregnancy was way too long for me
They had us walk around the hospital for an hour to make sure that I was really in labor. When they checked me after that time, I hadn't made sufficient progress so they told me to go home, relax and come back later. I was so mad, I wouldn't even make eye contact with the nurse who was telling me this. We tried to tell her that with our other 2 babies, things were very slow in the beginning and very quick at the end. In one ear and out the other...she must hear that every day, so she didn't seem to care.
Since I had missed a Dr appt that morning because we were at the hospital, Dave took me there right from the hospital and they squeezed me in. Well, my doctor checked me and said to return to the hospital, she was going to admit and we were going to have a baby that day. I never wanted to hug my doctor as much as I did when she said that!
Sooo...we headed back. My doctor is a very hands off, let your body do it's own thing kind of person. She didn't want to give me pitocin unless I wasn't making any progress for a long time. We thought we were in for a long day and maybe even night. When the nurse checked me around 3:30, I was at a 4- the same as I had been at my Dr's office that morning. I was a little frustrated because I was having HARD contractions and they didn't seem to be doing anything. Ugh! They checked me again at 4pm and thought I was a 5. Dave warned her that my babies come quick, so she started to get things ready for delivery and went to call my doctor. Shortly after that I felt my water break and started having REALLY HARD contractions along with a ton of pressure. Dave looked down and thought he saw the head right there. He called the nurse over and she was almost rolling her eyes as he asked, "Um, is that the head?" She took one look and ran out of the room to get another nurse. 3 pushes later, Kayli entered this world. Almost having to be caught by her father...the nurse barely made it in there.
Kayli was born at 4:4o pm, weighing 7 lbs, 8oz and being 20 1/2 inches long. She is absolutely adorable and we are so happy to have her in our family!
Kelsi was so excited to meet her! She thinks she is so lucky to now have a brother and a sister!

Andrew held her for a second and was bored. He spent the rest of the time at the hospital watching a movie on the laptop!

Here she is modeling her Cute as a Button shirt from Aunt Valerie. So cute!!

Heading home...

*In case you missed it, the morale of the story is that you should always listen to Keri when she tells you that her babies come quickly. The doctor barely made it in time to catch Kelsi and both Andrew and Kayli were delivered by nurses because the doctors couldn't get there in time :) And I don't even want to think about the nurse who sent me home! Dave made sure to thank our doctor for having us return to the hospital, he is happy that he didn't have to deliver a baby at home or in the car or something!

WELCOME BABY KAYLI!!

Happy New Year!

In case anyone still reads this blog, I will let you know what's been happening the past few weeks in our home. And I apologize for the lack of posts. Everytime I get online, I spend all my time reading other blogs and then I don't have time to update my own. Oh well...but I love to read all of your fun blogs!

We spent a snowy Chrstimas at home. Well, mostly at Dave's parents home, but we came home to sleep occasionally. Two of his brothers and their families were here along with his grandparents so we enjoyed spending time with all of them. Someday we will get all the Button boys together again, but that may be awhile. Christmas morning the kids woke up early and we did presents at home then went over to the Button's for breakfast and more presents :) It was a great day!

The next day my sister and brother and their families braved the snowy mountain passes to come and visit us. The cousins all had a blast being together! One day the men all went shooting and the women took the kiddos to a giant indoor playland. I stayed up way too late playing games and talking with the adults, but it was so much fun! It was nice to be able to talk and laugh once all the little ones went to sleep. We had 6 adults and 8 children in our little home...at least it seemed really little with so many people in it! The oldest child was 9 and the youngest 3 months. Fun times.

We had dinner with Dave's parents on New Year's Eve but headed home early to get the kids to bed. Kelsi begged us to stay up till midnight so we let her. Not sure what she was expecting, but I think she finally realized that we don't have a big party once the kids are in bed!

Today we went sledding with some friends...not me, I was on the swings trying to get labor going. No luck so far. This past year has brought many changes to our family. Hopefully 2009 will be a little less crazy. We are looking forward to the arrival of a sweet little baby girl who will sleep really well and never cry. I can dream can't I?? When the little button arrives we will surely let everyone know!

We have been busy!

You know it's getting close to Christmas when you have things going on every single night...and this week we did!

For Family Night we decorated this gingerbread house and then had fun eating it. We barely got a picture before the kids dug in!
Kelsi attends a drama/singing class once a week and on Tuesday they had their Christmas show. They did a few short plays and sang some great Christmas songs. It was so fun to watch her perform.
Wednesday night was Kelsi's school program. It was great and the kids actually got to sing CHRISTMAS songs....something many public schools are not allowing these days. Can you find Kelsi?
On Thursday night, after celebrating Uncle Nick's 21st birthday with dinner at Red Robin (sorry no pics!) we hurried over to Andrew's preschool where he had his Christmas program. He has been practicing the songs for months and it was fun to hear all the kids singing the songs that we have heard bits and pieces of for a while.
He was so excited to be singing for us, especially after watching his big sister perform the two previous nights. :)
Now I am just hoping for a lazy, stress free Christmas break so we can get ready for our new baby to come.

Feeling a little huge...

This isn't really me...though I certainly feel like it could be.
Don't worry though, I wouldn't wear a bikini around like that- it is December! :)

Happy Birthday Andrew!!

Andrew with his favorite person, his big sister! They are still the best of friends...most of the time.

Here is our handsome man when he was just a few minutes old...he isn't too sure what to think of this new place.

Our sweet little boy came into this world 4 years ago and forever changed our lives. He has grown into a handsome little man and we are so blessed to have him in our family! Some of Andrew's favorite things are: The movie Cars and anything related to that, reading stories with mommy, playing with daddy, doing anything with Kelsi, shopping at Target (that one is mom's fault, but everyone needs a shoppping buddy!), eating anything chocolate or cheese pizza, racing on Mario Kart, puzzles, watching Diego movies and pretending to be Diego, and singing songs. It is fun to see him learn and grow! He recently learned the song, "I am a Child of God" for our primary program and he will sing it for anyone, anywhere. He is so proud of himself that he knows all the words. It brought tears to my eyes during the program to see him singing so loud and proud. He is such a funny boy and he always keeps us laughing with the crazy things that he says and does. He has a very tender side and can't wait to be a big brother. He is so excited to have a baby sister who he can teach things to. (He wants to teach her to walk and sing as soon as she is born. :) ) He is my little sidekick during the day while Kelsi is at school and daddy is at work and we have lots of fun together.

We love you Andrew!!

Where is the love?

Yesterday the kids and I took a super quick trip over the mountains to see family. I got to go shopping (well, stand in line mostly!) with my sister, sister-in-law and my mother while the kids got to play with their cousins. It was a win-win situation. Because of work, Dave did not get to come with us and his only request was to bring back some Krispy Kreme donuts for him and his coworkers. The nearest store is 2 hours away, so we usually try and get some while we are over visiting my family. Imagine my delight when I pulled into the parking lot and saw that their famous Hot Light was on! In case you don't know, this means that they are making fresh glazed donuts at the moment and if you come in, you can have one that is nice and hot. That's the best way to eat them, they just melt in your mouth. Every other time that I have been to a Krispy Kreme when the sign was on, they gave us a free glazed donut, just off the belt. YUM!! Not this time. They offered us half of a bite of a donut that wasn't even warm! I know that the economy is not that great right now and maybe people aren't scooping up these donuts like they used to...but really, come on. At least give the pregnant lady and her two young children an entire bite and one that is warm!
If I wasn't so distracted picking out my dozen assorted donuts I was taking home, I would have been a lot more upset. I know that I am super pregnant and often a little grumpy lately, but really, where is the love Krispy Kreme?
